Outbreaks of fungal disease are becoming more frequent due to globalization, climate change, and increasing number of medically complex patients. This lecture will discuss the frequency, epidemiology and characteristics of major fungal outbreaks in the literature.

Speaker: Luis Ostrosky-Zeichner, MD, FACP, FIDSA, FSHEA

Dr. Ostrosky is a Professor of Medicine and Epidemiology and the Memorial Hermann Endowed Chair at UTHealth Houston, where he is appointed as the vice chairman of Medicine for Healthcare Quality and the Division Chief at the Division of Infectious Diseases. He also serves as the Chief Epidemiology Officer for the Memorial Hermann Healthcare System, and has consulted for both the FDA and CDC. He has published over 200 peer-reviewed articles and actively pursues translational and clinical research in medical mycology, transplant infectious diseases, healthcare epidemiology, and antimicrobial stewardship.
